I think in order to make a sensible judgment in respect to wait times I need to ask for advice on the interpretation of ‘treatment should start no more than 18 weeks from the day that your GP refers you’. I understand that the timetable for me would involve, as separate steps in chronological order,1. Referral to a Hospital Consultant’s Clinic 2. Appointment with a Bariatric Nurse 3. Appointment with a relevant Dietician 4. Appointment with a Psychiatrist 5. Appointment with an Anesthetist 6. Appointment with a Consultant Surgeon 7. Placed on waiting list 8. Surgery. I therefore need to ask at which point it would be considered that ‘Consultant led treatment’ has started – along with the 18 weeks ‘countdown’. |

I would be very interested to learn of the policy of your primary care trust with regards to endovascular (stent) repairs of abdominal aortic aneurysms (EVAR)... In particular, Do you have a formal written policy for funding EVAR of which I may have a copy? If not, how are decisions made on EVAR funding? Do you routinely offer this procedure at hospitals within your trust? Which hospitals within your trust perform this procedure? How many endovascular repairs has your Trust performed over the most recent year for which records exist? If your trust does not offer endovascular repairs, do you fund the procedure if performed in another primary care trust?
