5 June 2009 - Help to beat those bugs on Bug Busting Day

ADVICE to tackle itchy problems will be on offer at Priory Meadow shopping centre, Hastings, on Thursday 11 June – national Bug Busting Day.

Schools nurses with NHS East Sussex Community Health Services (see notes) will be at the centre from 9am-5.30pm on 11 June to share their expert bug busting knowledge to prevent, detect and treat headlice and other bugs.

They will be giving away free headlice detection combs, leaflets and lots of bug busting tips as well as advice on any health-related concerns parents may have about their school age children.

“As parents of school-age children know, headlice and other bugs can spread quickly.  We hope mums and dads will come along for a chat so we can share the latest bug busting advice and information,” says school nurse Janet Donkin, who’s organised the event.

Audrey Rogers, head of the school nurse team based at the Arthur Blackman Clinic, adds:

"No-one should be embarrassed about seeking advice about these issues - it’s much better to take steps to tackle them than just hope they’ll go away.”
