15 October 2009 - Annual Health Check results for NHS Hastings and Rother

The Care Quality Commission has today (15th October) published the results of its annual health check on NHS organisations.

The health check gives a detailed picture of how every NHS organisation is performing, with organisations assessed as weak, fair, good or excellent for quality of commissioning, as well as use of resources.

The quality of commissioning (designing and paying for services) score covers a range of areas including safety of patients, cleanliness and waiting times.

The rating for use of resources is based on how well the organisation manages and uses its financial resources

In the ratings announced today for 2008/09, NHS Hastings and Rother received a 'good' rating for quality of commissioning and a 'fair' rating for use of resources.

The rating for 2007/08 was fair and good respectively.

Mike Wood, Chief Executive of NHS Hastings and Rother, said:

"We are pleased that our rating for quality of commissioning has improved.

This reflects the tremendous hard work all our staff are putting in to deliver the best possible services for local peopleIe.

The way that the use of resources score is worked out has changed, so comparing this year and last is not particularly meaningful.

Our rating of fair for use of resources is in line with other NHS organisations like ourselves elsewhere in the region.

We know what we have to do to improve in all areas and will be implementing action plans to help ensure this happens."

Full details of the performance ratings are available on the Care Qaulity Commission’s website from Thursday 15th October www.cqc.org.uk
