The Care Quality Commission has today (15th October) published the results of its annual health check on NHS organisations.
This gives a detailed picture of how every NHS organisation is performing.
Organisations are assessed as weak, fair, good or excellent for quality of commissioning of services, as well as use of resources.
In the ratings announced today for 2008/09, NHS East Sussex Downs and Weald has received a fair rating for quality of commissioning and a fair rating for use of resources.
The ratings for 2007/8 were weak and fair respectively
The quality of commissioning (designing and paying for services) score covers a range of areas including safety of patients, cleanliness and waiting times.
The rating for use of resources is based on how well the organisation manages and uses its financial resources
Chief Executive of NHS East Sussex Downs and Weald, Mike Wood, said:
"We are pleased that we have improved our rating for quality of commissioning and maintained a fair rating in use of resources.
This is a reflection of the tremendous hard work all our staff put in to deliver the best possible services for local people.
We know what we have to do to improve in all areas and we will continue to strive to raise standards further."
