The Lewes Victoria Hospital is to benefit from a donation of hundreds of pounds, all thanks to shoppers at a local supermarket.
People who have shopped at Waitrose in the town centre in recent months have been given special green counters which they can place in different boxes, representing various good causes, on their way out of the store.
These are then converted into donations to local charities.
This week the League of Friends of Lewes Victoria Hospital were presented with a cheque for over £500.
Nicholas Darby, Chairman of the League of Friends and Lucy Scragg Matron/Senior Nurse Manager were delighted to receive the money from Paul Soane, Manager of Waitrose, Lewes.
Mr Darby says,
“It is obvious that support for the Lewes Victoria Hospital is as strong as ever, so thank you to everyone who voted for us and thanks and to Waitrose for making it possible”.
