9 February 2009 - Community Matron retires after 21 years NHS service

Colleagues, recent and not so recent, gathered on 15 January at Orchard House, Lewes Victoria Hospital, to celebrate the 21 year NHS career of Shirley Barling.

Before her most recent role as Community Matron she was a Health Advisor to the Elderly for some 14 years.

One thing her colleagues are particularly grateful for is the wealth of knowledge which she has shared with them.

Shirley is popular, respected and valued by colleagues and patients so will be much missed.

Everyone at Lewes Victoria Hospital wishes her well in her retirement, which is to start with a well deserved trip to Australia.

Flowers, tokens and a cake were presented to Shirley by her colleague Pam Main and Locality Manager David Jones on behalf of all her friends and colleagues and NHS East Sussex Downs and Weald.
