15 July 2010 - Catch the Bus, don’t catch Chlamydia

A special bus is touring East Sussex during July and August to help encourage young people across the county to get tested for the most commonly diagnosed sexually transmitted infection in the UK.

Chlamydia can affect both men and women.

Most people that have it will have no symptoms, and if you, or your partner, are left untreated it can cause infertility.

Now the local NHS is offering Chlamydia tests to anyone who is sexually active and under 25 by bus.

All they have to do is drop-in at one of the stops on the bus’ journey around East Sussex (See below for details)

Sally Pullen, who works on the NHS’ ‘Chlamydia Free’ campaign in East Sussex, says:

"The test for Chlamydia is very simple.

You can do it yourself and don’t need to be examined by a nurse or doctor.

So if you are sexually active and under 25, please come along and have a test at the bus, OR you can text ‘pack’ with you name, age, address and if you are male or female to 80010, or call 0800 0612 668 for further information."
