An NHS road show is coming to the Arndale Shopping Centre in Eastbourne, offering advice and information on staying active and independent.
A team of Occupational Therapists will be on hand on 11th November 2010 to talk to people of all ages about their daily needs and aspirations, and provide advice about preventing injuries, illnesses or disabilities, or advise on how to cope with them.
Sandra Cooley is an Occupational Therapist (OT) at Firwood House in Eastbourne, providing rehabilitation services to patients.
She says:
"An OT’s job is to assess your situation and find practical solutions to help you lead a more fulfilling life.
For example, by providing help and training in daily activities, such as bathing, dressing, eating and gardening.
We can also offer advice on adapting your home or workplace to meet your needs and help children with disabilities to build their confidence, enabling them to take part in school activities."
Sandra, together with her colleagues, will be at the Arndale Centre on the 11th of November (10am to 4pm)with information about the services they offer and examples of equipment.
They will also be able to answer questions, as well as talk to anyone how may be interested in becoming an Occupational Therapist.
