NHS and Council join forces on new guide to local health services

East Sussex County Council and the local NHS have teamed up on the latest guide to health services in the county.

The local guide to NHS services 2010/11 will be dropping through people’s letter boxes from mid November onwards as a special addition to the council’s ‘Your County’ magazine for local residents.

The 8 page health supplement contains a wealth of information from advice on stopping smoking, to a breakdown of how the NHS in East Sussex spends public funding, and details of how local people can have their say on health services.

Joel Hufford, Communications Manager for NHS East Sussex Downs and Weald and NHS Hastings and Rother, says:

"We have worked with local people to improve the design and content of this year’s local guide to NHS services to make it even better.

In addition, by working with the County Council we can ensure that every household in East Sussex gets a copy of the new guide, but at a much lower cost to the public purse than if we handled the design, printing and distribution ourselves.

We hope that everyone finds the local guide of real use in getting the help and advice they need."

Lisa Compton, Director of Assurance and Engagement for NHS East Sussex Downs and Weald and NHS Hastings and Rother, adds:

"We have been working in partnership with the County Council to make it easier for local people to get information on health and council services at the same time, rather than having to find it separately.

Joining forces on the new local guide to NHS services is a natural extension of that."

‘Your County’ magazine and the local guide to NHS services are being distributed to over 230,000 households across East Sussex.
