Reviewing the content of the formulary

Generally, new drugs will not be added to the formulary within one year of their launch, unless they are considered by the Health Economy Medicines Committee (HEMC) to be a radical advance in disease management above anything else available, and that the safety profile stands rigorous examination. Each chapter is scheduled for review on a two year cycle, but may be sooner if compelling new evidence becomes available, or, for example, a drug is withdrawn. Any changes will be ratified by the HEMC.
